Young Women Feminist in Kenya (YOWOFEK) is an indigenous women and girls’ network that champions the rights of women and girls among the Malakote communities through strengthening their capacities to influence policies, decision making processes and address harmful cultural practices that demean the dignity of women and girls in the society. The group is women driven whose key mandate is to raise not only the voice and status of indigenous women and girls but also to spearhead local initiatives aimed at securing human rights, safety of local women and the girl-child in the society, women access to natural resources, indigenous knowledge and wellbeing. Young Women Feminist was founded within a context of tragedy and the desire to restore human dignity in primordial state of vulnerability.
